This is an authentic clutch assembly for a chainsaw. If the engine of your chainsaw revs up but the chain is not moving, this is a likely indicator that you need a new clutch. The clutch is attached to the engine’s crankshaft and the clutch drum is mounted over top of it. The clutch includes a center hub, shoes, and a spring. When the throttle is open and the chainsaw speeds up, the shoes expand from the hub and make contact with the drum, and this makes the chain turn. When the chainsaw slows down, the spring pulls the shoes back, bringing the drum and chain to a stop.
With time, the shoes will wear and no longer make proper contact with the drum. The spring can also stretch so much that it is not able to pull the shoes back. To access this part, you will begin by removing the side cover, the chain, and the bar.
