"The carburetor's function is to measure the exact amount of fuel-air mixture needed to run the engine. It acts as a tube that allows air and fuel into the engine through the valves. Most problems that have to do with a hard starting or poor running chainsaw has to do with the carburetor.
Most carburetor issues are caused by dirt or debris getting into the part. The internal parts of the carburetor will eventually wear out. If old fuel is left sitting in it for a long time, such as over the winter season, it will start to gum up and clog its internal parts and passages. Regularly cleaning and adjusting the carburetor is essential to keeping it well maintained and running for a long time.
For this repair, you’ll need to remove the air filter, and the two nuts that secure the carburetor to the chainsaw body. You’ll then need to clamp off each of the fuel lines to gain access to the carburetor. "
