Hi Gabrielle,
Thank you for your question. Here are some instructions from Ego on how to remove the blades from a hedge trimmer. Before removing the blade from the hedge trimmer, cover the blades with the blade shield. Disengage the power source to prevent injury. Then turn the hedge trimmer over and unscrew the six hex screws from the gear box cover located on the underside of the tool. Remove the aluminum gear box cover. Remove the spindle washers. Unscrew the two hex screws that secure the blade mounting plate. Remove the blade assembly from the gear box. If the piston assembly pulls off the spindle during blade removal, simply re-insert the piston assembly onto the spindle. Before reinstalling the blade assembly, be sure the two oblong blade ends are aligned and even. Secure the blade assembly to the tool cavity. Ensure the blade ends are properly aligned with the piston assembly. Reassemble and secure the blade mounting plate. Replace the spindle washers. Replace the aluminum gear box cover. Secure the aluminum gear box cover with the six hex screws. Make sure that all the screws are snug. The repair is complete. We hope this helps!
