Replacement of the beater was not really a repair, but I did use this as an occasion to adjust the beater/bowl clearance using the method suggested on the video provided by ereplacementparts. This adjustment resulted in a much smoother operation. Improper adjustment may have been the cause of the chipped beater.

The thumb screw broke in half. The flat beaters nylon coating tore at the bottom and food would get stuck in it.
