This ball retainer is 7/32 inches in diamter and has 8 ball bearings. This part is inside the hub axle. You should inspect the ball bearings a couple times year if you are a frequent rider, or if you notice that the axle does not turn the hub smoothly.
This repair will require you to disassemble the hub. To do this, you may require a vice to hold the hub axle in place while you perform the repair. Use your slotted screwdriver to remove the right dust cap. You will now need to remove the lock nut, and then the cone. You should now be able to remove the hub shell. Remove the stop ring using your slotted screwdriver. You can now remove the carrier unit and the ring gear unit simultaneously while also turning the ring gear unit to the left and right. Now you should be able to remove the ball retainer. When reassembling, take note of the setting direction and apply a coating of internal hub grease.
