Removed old ball bearing and the brake skirt. Using a bearing press I installed the new ball bearing into the bearing cap then replaced the brake skirt. I then put everything back together with the new parts . Sander now works great.
The bearing outer chase lodged in the bearing cap housing, making it impossible to just replace the bearing. Ordered a new bearing and bearing cap. Removed screws from the sander pad head and replaced cap and bearing. Re-installed on shaft. This was a better option than replacing the sander, prevented a $50 sander from going into the
