This is an OEM replacement part sourced directly from the original manufacturer. This Mandrel Housing is made out of Metal and it is Sold Individually. This is the part that Houses Shaft that mower blade attaches to, it is mounted to the deck of the mower by Three (3) Bolts (Sold Separately). Please note that the mounting holes on Mandrel Housing are not threaded. Bolts that are used to secure the Mandrel to the deck are self tapping. I removed the blade bolt and washer from the spindle and removed the blade. I then remove the deck from the mower. Remove the nut from the mandrel pulley and remove the pulley. I then remove the three bolts holding the mandrel to the deck, and the mandrel came right off. I used a brass rod to punch the spindle from the mandrel from the to p. Then I used a block of wood and tapped the spindle into the new housing. I used the same block of wood to tap in the top bearing. I then placed the the new housing up to the deck and used the same screws to mount the mandrel. The mandrel is not threaded, but the screws are self tapping. I placed the pulley on the spindle and then tightened the nut down on the pulley. I installed the blade and then attached the deck to the mower.

1. Installed new mandrel on deck but I did not use the new stripper.
2. Put belt pulley back on mandrel.
3. Installed new arm brake.
4. Installed new extension spring from arm brake to bracket on deck. I used a screwdriver as a lever to stretch the spring to get it into place on the bracket. This was the most diffi cult part of the repair since I did not a a spring stretching tool like those used for stretching springs on drum brakes on cars.

Re-drilled mounting holes to accept a 3/8\" bolts. Bolt head fit in casting as designed. The through hole can be tapped, but drilling a clear hole to fit the 3/8\" make the repair quicker. Then mount the mandrel with washer, lock washer, nut on the top side.

I had to cut the nut on top. did this with a grinder cut off wheel. I actually split the nut vertically about %75 through, then unscrewed the nut. My old housing had one of three attachment points broken off, one broken bolt, and only one bolt holding it onto the deck.
When I got the new housing, I drilled out all three holes and u sed 5/16 X 1 1/2 bolt. The housing will accept a 5/16 nut to match the bold. I ended up replacing both mandrels and also drilling out the holes in the existing mandrel.
ereplacement parts looked up my parts even though my serial number was not in their database on their website. Real nice and easy company to deal with.
