Removed the mower deck from the machine. Problem had to be caused by something other than the belt. Visual inspection of pulleys revealed one had missing bearings and sat lopsided on the pulley shaft. Ordered second flat pulley just in case. Reinstalled pulleys, deck and new belt. Mower worked fine. Followed deck removal procedure in owne rs manual.

A cutting deck pulley bearing, one of two, locked up

After disconnecting all of the connecting rods and alignment link between the cutting deck and the tractor frame, I pulled the deck out from under the tractor. It is a simple chore to remove the locked-up pulley and replace it with the new one. While the deck is in the open and its\' components easily assessable, clean up and lube the sli ding surfaces. Afterwards, push/pull the deck under the tractor and install the alignment link and reconnect and adjust all of those rods. Happy Summer cutting that grass!!!

UNBOLTED THE IDLER PULLEYS AND BOLTED IN THE NEW PARTS. EXACT MATCH FOR WHAT WAS REMOVED! MACHINE WORKS LIKE NEW AGAIN AND THE REPAIR MADE ME CLEAN UP THE MOWER DECK WHICH MAKES THE SAFETY FEATURES WORK AGAIN, LIKE THEY WERE DESIGNED. ADVICE- TAKE A PHOTO OF THE ORIGINAL ASSEMBLY BEFORE REMOVING ALL THESE PIECES, IT MAKES IT MUCH EASIE R FOR AN OLDER BRAIN TO REMEMBER HOW TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER.
