Considering that the knobs had burned/melted into the control panel I had to pry them off the metal. After that it was easy to remove the grates and flavorizor bars to access the bolts to the panel. I unscrewed the control panel from the right side, and bolts holding the manifold in place. From there it was a simple matter of reversing th e procedure with the new parts. 20 minutes after starting I fired her up and made dinner.

Orange Flame & uneven heating

Removed the old burner tubes, which was the most difficult and time-consuming part of the repair. This was due to the age of the grill, the build up of grease and exposure to rigors of northern midwest weather. Once the old parts were removed, the rest of the repair proceeded smoothly. The instructions were clear and easily understood.

bottom tray rails rusted out, ignitor box burnt away

Thomas from Elkridge, Maryland

Total Repair Time:
15 - 30 mins
Tools:
Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set
Parts Used:
901, 88203
Bottom Tray Rails:
1. Pull the bottom tray out and set it aside.
2. Remove the screws holding the current tray rails in. I found it important to remove the screws with a socket, not a screwdriver. They were rusty and seized very well. A Phillips screwdriver would have likely stripped the screw heads without removing them.
3. Pull the old rails off and clean up the bottom of the grill is you want.
4. Put the new rails on and tighten the holding screws. I put a dab of grease on the screws to help prevent them from rusting and seizing

Ignitor:
Just follow the instructions that come with the ignitor. They\'re straightforward and easy to follow.

1. Removed the old burners and the igniter wiring kit. (old igniter still worked, however, the spark box had burnt down to nothing because the burner flame constantly hits it. Since I was replacing the burners, I thought it wouldn\'t hurt to replace the igniter kit too.)
2. Installed the new burners and the igniter kit.
The bu rner kit even came with new spider screens.
