Is there a speed feeder type head replacement. The bump knob gets very tight during use I have to use pliers to unscrew to replace the trimmer string. I like this trimmer because it's not too heavy for me. Thanks.

Trimmer head wore out.

1. Take the knob, string reel and spring off of the trimmer.
2. Keep the spring if you didn\'t purchase a replacement.
3. Remove the star retaining washer by cutting or prying it off the shaft.
4. Remove the outer housing and clean the shaft then install the new housing and push on the net retaining washer. A deep 1/2\" or 9/16 socket works well for pushing the washer into place.
5. Reload spool and reassemble with the spring, spool and knob. Now get to work.

I had to order the spool assembly and the bump head know assembly. Since I had to cut the bolt off I had to replace the spool assembly which fastens onto the neck of the trimmer. Everything went together smoothly. I didn\'t have to use any tools to replace the Bump Head Assembly but the shaft assembly with the spool; I used a wrench and p hilips screwdriver to put it together.

Total Repair Time:

Tools:
Pliers
Parts Used:

I removed the old worn out bump knob with the pliers and pulled out the old worn out inner reel and put the replacement parts I got from Replacement Parts.com right on my trimmer. Everything fit perfectly and the new inner reel had the line divider which makes it easier for the line to feed out when needed. I am satisfied with my purchas e and the price! Instead of getting a new trimmer for $100 I spent $30 and I\'m trimming away again!:)
