This cap-drum is from the original manufacturer to maintain the highest quality. This item is used as a replacement part for electric trimmers by Toro and Lawn Boy. The cap is used to support the spool and fastens the motor-hub assembly. This part is sold as an individual item.
1. Removed old cap-drum
2. Removed old spool.
3. Removed the old eyelet, used a screwdriver to pry it out.
4. Slid new eyelet in place.
5. Wound new trimmer line onto spool then installed spool over spring.
6. Depressed spool and spring slightly and installed cap-drum.
Found an old toro electric trimmer that was missing the drum cap and eyelet.
Instal eyelet and screw on cap... 1-2-3

The trimming line wears away the plastic drum cap, causing the line to break.
The repair was easy. Unscrew the plastic drum cap and replace it. Unfortunately it was the same design plastic drum cap, therefore the problem will occur again. The correct design should have a metal edge along the plastic drum cap to prevent the line from wearing away the plastic.
Took capdrum out of package and replaced old one with the new. Thanks for your service online. It is always a hassle to order from a lawnmower co. Either they don\'t know how to order or you get the wrong item. EreplacementParts made ordering easy!
1. Removed old cap drum and spool
2. Inserted new eyelet
3. Rewound the new spool
4. Insert new spring into spool
5. Feed string through eyelet and attach spool to trimmer
6. Hold spool firmly in place with one hand while attaching cap drum with the other
7. Tight firmly with hand
