It is a genuine OEM supplied replacement belt that is specially designed for use with Porter Cable disk sanders. This is the main belt that drives the unit. Over time belts tend to wear out and stretch eventually requiring replacement for the tool to function at peak performance. It is made of high-quality rubber material and it is sold individually.

Bad bearing caused additinal damage to other parts

Disassembled the machine and replaced the bad parts.
Pressing the bearings into place was a bit challenging without a press.

Fan blade and fan cover broken while sanding plastic. A glob of plastic broke off and hit the fan.

Disassembled and found a bad bearing also. The bad bearing had also damaged the shaft.
Fan Housing not available - original cracked but usable. Used snap ring pliers to remove snap ring over bearings. Used 1/2\" drive socket that fit the bearings and used bench vice to press old bearings out. Note: Save the spacer between th e bearings for reassembly. Had problem putting new shaft through new bearings. Sanded shaft lightly until fit was adequate and lubed the shaft and bearings to aid in the assembly process. Used socket and vice to press shaft through installed bearings. Used hammer and socket to gently center the bearings on the shaft and housing for best rotation. Easily done. The new fan blade fit to the new shaft was also a bit tight but with some careful and gently tapping it went on and the screw pulled it into place. Remainder of the assembly was straight forward.

1. remove belt assembly.
2. Remove fan cover/housing assembly.
3. clean all parts.
4. remove belt pulley from shaft. remove snap ring for shaft/ bearing assembly.
5. press shaft/bearing assembly from cover.
6. put all back together with new fan cover/housing.

Collector shaft bearings worn out.needed a shaft and bearings. Second time replaced on this unit.

Start by removing the sanding belt. Remove the housings around the poly v belt. Remove the belt tensioner assembly. Remove the Collector bearing housing and poly belt. Once the housing is removed you will need to remove the belt pulley from the collector shaft. Tap or press the shaft from the collector housing. Remove snap ring in collect or housing and replace bearings and washer. Install shaft, pulley and housing back onto sander. install belt, then cover. Reinstall the tensioner assembly then the sanding belt and the housings. Turn on sander and adjust sanding belt.
