The special ball bearing is commonly used to reduce friction between a rotating shaft and a fixed part assembly. START WITH A SCHEMATIC! Take the reel apart. Clean each part. Inspect for wear and damages. Photograph the sequence of removal. Replace the used, damaged, worn parts.

Remove 3 screws.
Take case apart remove defective pawl and worm drive
remove small bearing on worm drive
I recommend to have the reel schematic (exploded view) handy
Use dry air to remove dirt
Use plenty of reel oil and assemble according to schematic.
Try it out no binding, smooth cast and reel in.
