This is an original part from the Penn manufacturer. The worm assembly is designed for use with Level Wind Reels. This item is fitted in the frame assembly, allowing the operator to comfortably wind the fishing reel handle as the worm gear minimizes the action. You will need a screwdriver to take the reel apart in order to make this replacement. Please refer to the manual for further repair instructions. This component is sold individually.
Working on a penn 330gt I had to remove both of the covers on the spool. So first the handle then the dragstar. Remove the spool cap. Then all the flat head screws holding the cover on bothe sides.
