Make sure the spring is in deactivated position when you try to replace the finger guard and brake handle .
1 When the new part arrives it will be in the activated position.
2. Work the brake handle as you place the new part in its normal position.
3. When the handle connects with the brake handles proper slots pull it back to deactivate the spring .
When this happens you have to replace the screws in the cover. then continue with replacing the rest of the clutch parts as shown in the diagram which comes with the new brake assembly.
This procedure can be a real pain if it doesn\'t connect properly but don\'t let it get you down it usually is really simple just takes a little understanding of the parts.

Read complete short list of instructions first, then executed. The complete assembly dropped into place and tightened down with screws. Was the easiest small engine repair ever. Finding the part on ereplacement was even easier. I\'ll be back if I need more parts in the future.

Safety glasses on (you\'re working with a spring).

Removed old assembly. Installed per directions. Once the drum is on, you do need to move the lever, to seat the new brake assembly. Good idea to watch e-replacement\'s video, before you install.

Removed melted brake assembly
Scraped, sanded, chiseled melted plastic from saw body where the chain sprocket is housed. The sprocket rubbed against the melted plastic. Once the sprocket moved freely without scraping against the saw body I installed the brake assembly.
Most of the time used was for removing melted plastic

Reassembled and tested the saw.
