Poulan chainsaw automatic oiler not working due to nylon gear stripped on oil pump assembly.

I removed the spark plug and inserted a rope to lock the piston, then removed the clutch with the special clutch removal tool. Be sure to use a rope with no loose strands that can become stuck between the piston and cylinder wall. Remember the clutch is left-hand thread which means it loosens to the right. The trickiest part of the pro cess is installation of the new coil spring gear onto the shaft using only screwdrivers, pliers, etc. I didn\'t have the special tool for this but would invest in one next time. Be sure the coils are equally spaced like they were before installation on the shaft. Replace the oil pump assembly and reconnect the pickup hose. Pretty easy and self explanatory installation once you remove the clutch.
