This is an authentic Makita part that has been sourced from the original manufacturer to ensure a high level of quality. The rubber sleeve is intended to be used with circular saws. This rubber sleeve is used to provide spacing and to support the bolt that fastens the depth adjustment assembly to the blade case. This rubber sleeve is sold as an individual replacement part.
Very simple repair. I used the hex wrench to remove the Saw Blade. Used Screw Driver to remove the screw with the rubber stop. Reinstalled, reinstalled the Saw Blade, and that was the completion of the repair.
1. Used Allen Wrench to remove set screw on base plate to remove holding bolt on the guide
2. Removed the Rubber Sleeve to move the guard out of position.
3. Removed the securing stop ring.
4. Removed the thumb lock.
5. Removed the nut and washer.
6. Pulled out the bolt and replaced the depth guide.

Removed the handle screws for the saw handle cover and unfastened the old power cord. Trimmed the new cord to fit and replaced the handle cover and tightened the screws.
The new cord is of quality material and was a perfect fit. It will last for the life of the saw.
Removed blade
Removed rubber sleeve via screw
Removed retainer ring
Disconnect spring and remove safety cover
Replace new safety cover and attach spring
Install retainer ring
Replace new rubber sleeve with screw
Reinstall blade
