My makita ls1013L would not plunge down.

My Makita LS1013L would not plunge down smoothly. If you \"helped\" the guard get started, it would work plunge easier.
I pretty much replaced everything that is related to the guard and how the saw plunges from a resting position. Nothing helped. I believe I narrowed it down to the bushing on the arm that flips the guard up an d out of the way. If you look at this schematic, it is item #27, Fig. 27, Ring 6, item #257163-5.

Blade guard broke!

Wrench (Adjustable)
1. Removed flange head bolt and shoulder head bolt holding center cover to saw.
2. Removed retaining screw and washer from center plate.
3. Remove broken safety cover.
4. Install new center plate in center cover, install torsion spring over center plate.
5. Align new safety cover on center plate and secure with retaining screw and washer.
6. Install safety cover assembly to saw, starting with shoulder bolt then pivoting assembly into place and locking with cap screw.
