Product Description

This is a genuine OEM sourced replacement part designed for use with Abu Garcia reels. It is an important part of the reel that interacts with the click plate (sold separately). This cog wheel is made out of white plastic and it is sold individually. This is the main idler gear. To complete this repair you will need a screwdriver.

Original Abu Garcia Cog Wheel was stripped thus causing a rough retrieve.

1. Took off the cap opposite the handle side of the reel.
2. Popped off the existing Cog Wheel (carefully in the event the new part didnt fit)
3. Cleaned the area where the old part was
4. Pushed the new cog wheel on the peg until I heard a snap/pop sound
5. Replaced reel cap
6. Tested retrieve with success

Very simple. Took the reel apart, cleaned, oiled, replaced the cog gear. Very simple if you pay attention to how you take it apart.

Removed three screws pulled off cover removed E clip and replaced old gear with new one and applied grease. Reversed Disassembly and remounted on rod.

2 Removed the reel handle and drag star nut
3. Removed side covers to allow access to crank gears
4. Took screwdriver and removed screw holding gear on to side cover

1. Removed three screws on left side of reel and removed cover.
2. Unhooked worm retainer clip and unscrewed paw retainer cover.
3. Pulled out old parts and put back new ones.
4. Cut the retainer lip off the gear attached to the cover and removed it.
5. Popped the new one in its place.

Remove the 3 screws from the opposite side of the crank. Pill cover off noting the placement of the tube spacers on the clicker bracket. Pry the gear up with a flat screwdriver, add lube and press on the new gear.
Align the cover and screw the 3 screws in tightly.
Easy peasy!!
