Broken broken spindle bolt. Drilled 3/8 hole in broken bolt. And used a bolt extractor bit in a drill to reverse out the broken off bolt inside the spindle. Hit a rock which broke blade adapter, stripped hex head screw, replaced lawn mower blade.
Remove blade bolt and washers
Remove the blade
Remove the broken adapter
Install the new blade adapter, with the key inside lined up with the key way in the engine shaft
Place the new blade on the adapter, then the washers and tighten the new blade bolt

2. Tip mower onto side with gas cap down.

... Read more get belt started off pulley then it\'s comes off easy once it\'s past the guides on the bottom of the mower.
6. Reverse procedure. Slide new adapter onto engine shaft. I put a little WD-40 on shaft first. It only goes on one way on the shaft.
7. Put drive belt back on making sure adapter is all the way up on engine shaft and drive belt is in pulley groove and under belt guides on mower.
8. Install blade onto star shape on adapter and hold in place as you install blade bolt with flat washer and lock washer. Tighten to spec with socket wrench.
9. Put some gas in the gas tank and send your girlfriend back out to mow! ;-)
Old bolt was sheared off and old adapter had to be removed with a gear puller.
The end of the motor crankshaft had to be cleaned up for the new adapter to fit.
After this everything went back together OK.
Removed the blade bolt,washers and the blade. Then removed the broken adapter. Placed the new adapter so the key in it would line up with the key way in the engine shaft. Installed the blade, washers and tightened the new blade bolt.
Removed blade and replaced adapter, blade, installed with new head screw. Easy fix and mower is back in operation. Thank you for the great prices and quick service! Ken C.
