This blade adapter is a genuine manufacturer approved replacement part. It is specially made for use with walk-behind push lawn mowers. This adapter secures with the blade and allows it to be connected to the spindle. It is made out of metal and it is sold individually. You would need a wrench when replacing this adapter to remove/install the blade bolt.
Two Blade Support parts of the Adapter snapped off. Replaced adapter & new blade.
Needed a neighbors strength to tighten it up properly with a piece of wood so it would stay in alignment.
Remove blade bolt and washers
Remove the blade
Remove the broken adapter
Install the new blade adapter, with the key inside lined up with the key way in the engine shaft
Place the new blade on the adapter, then the washers and tighten the new blade bolt

Blade was broken and fitting were damaged by a worker
I removed the blade bolt, lock washer and the damaged hardened washer and the blade. I then remove the damaged blade adapter. And installed the new one making sure the key in the adapter lined up with the keyway in the shaft. I placed an extra blade I had on the adapter, then installed the new hardened washer, new lock washer and blade bo
... Read morelt. The I removed the damaged flangelock hex nuts, and installed them on the 5/16-18 bolts.
I needed to replace the blade adapter and components to fix the self propelled drive system.
Definitely take pictures when stripping down machinery to make sure you can put it back in the right sequence especially when they lots of little pieces.
The parts were delivered on time and was shipped complete
First lubricated shaft and blade adapter to make it easier to remove. Used a hammer to carefully loosen blade adapter. Attached new blade adapter by pushing all the way on to shaft and aligning to groove on shaft. Assembled blade with bolt and torqued to 40 psi.
1. Simply replaced the parts. Easy. The blade adapter required some break-free lube, 15 minutes later a rubber mallet working it off a little at a time. No biggie.
Removed lawnmower blade and broken blade adapter. Put on new blade adapter and new blade. I do have a special tool specifically made for holding lawnmower blades in place while turning bolt (beats looking for a spare hunk of wood). Easy job.
