Completed installation and in use in about 45 minutes it makes cut line up so easy. Unlike the laser system there is no dialing this thing in turn it on line up your cut mark with the shadow line and cut

Handle and side cover cracked
Just unscrew everything and lay the old ones out with the screws in the old parts so you know where they go and swap everything over. One thing to note is on my 716 mitre box the handle does not have the small cover in the diagram (part#618270-00), it is one piece. That would be handy to know ahead of time so you can get the cover if your original handle did not have it.

Added LED light to my DWS 779 to make it into a DWS 780
I ordered the handle set, work light and power supply.
The easy to follow online videos gave great instruction.
I thought I was ordering only the top half of the handle for $13. Surprised to get top and bottom.
Did not need to change the bottom part, so left wires in place.
Only remotely difficult part was splicing the power supply leads into the existing saw power leads (black wire to black, white to white). Did not cut the main power leads, but just cut through the insulation and slid apart 1/8" to solder in the smaller power supply wires. Watched several videos before cutting and it went well.
Not too impressed with the final LED light. Not nearly as easy to use as my Porter Cable red laser lights on both sides of the blade. But, better than no light at all.
eReplacement was really easy to work with and they had all the parts and instructions to make this conversion easy to do.

Handle was broken and side cover was cracked.
Removed the handle, and side cover replaced side cover and handle. I took a photo of the wire routing so wires could be routed correctly in new handle. Require a torx bit to remove screws.

Dewalt DWS779 update
Part arrived as promised by eReplacements Parts. No real problems anywhere. Was kept current on shipping details via e-mail. There is a connector wire required to update the 779 saw. This kit did not come with one. Checked other sources with no luck. Went to YouTube, watched several videos on updating the saw and then built my own connector. All good. I will use eReplacement again.

Great service
As always, I got exactly what I needed, very quickly. The part was a perfect match for a broken part on a 12 year old miter saw. I will be ordering more parts for "retired" tools.
