Dust shroud and fan housing set broke due impact from machine falling

Sacha from Brooklyn , New York

Total Repair Time:

Tools:
Screw drivers, Socket set
Parts Used:

The repair was very straight forward. Once the cutterhead cover was removed, all parts were easily accessible with the right tools. In fact, it took more time to assess the job than the actual replacing of the parts.
The tongue and groove joint plier was used to hold the fan and lock the shaft while tightening the lock nut that secu res it. In retrospect, and automotive oil filter wrench (The type that uses a rubber strap to hold the filter) would do a better job without risking damage to the fan.
I must note that the replacement fan housing is slightly different than the original. There were no spring clips to hold the two halves together. It simplified the process and works as well as the original.
Thanks!

Opened the top, unscrewed the red rod screws, removed and replaced the shroud.
On reassembly, one of the red rod screws stripped out, but this happens about every other time you use them, so I always have several on hand. They are very cheaply made and if you tighten them above about 5 inch pounds they crack, pretty annoying, but theyGÇÖre cheap to replace too . . .
Replaced the top using a T25 bit in a power drill makes opening and closing the unit faster
