Questions & Answers for Kitchenaid Stand Mixer Worm Dr

Hello again, I do have another question. On my mixer where you attachment the K beater, I can't see a spring spring to attach. Sorry, not sure what the technical term for that is Is that normal?
Simon for model number SKU 5K45SSBOB asked on 2024-01-03
Hi Simon, Thank you for your question. The spring is no longer included with the agitator shaft as it is not needed to attach the flat beater to the mixer. We hope this helps!

Hello, after seeing your video, I think I need to replace the plastic sacrifice cog as my mixer won't turn on less. I'll give it a helping hand. It makes noises as well. Could you advise me on the correct part number for this model please?Thank you.
Simon for model number SKU 5K45SSBOB asked on 2024-01-03

After a 10 min bread dough knead with the hook attachment, the hook stopped spinning, but I could hear the motor continuing to try. How do I know if it's the worm gear or something else?
Dana for model number K45SSWH asked on 2023-12-16
Hi Dana, Thank you for your question. If the dough hooks will not rotate we would recommend checking the worm gear and drive, and the retainer pin. You will need to dismantle the mixer to verify which part is causing the issue. We hope this helps!
    eReplacementParts Team December 16, 2023
I received a replacement Worm Gear for my KSM90 but the gear does not have a through hole for the retaining pin that holds it in place on the shaft. Is this a manufacturing defect or do I have the wrong Worm Gear for my KSM90?

Our mixer stopped operating due to the blade getting jammed on an item that should not
have been in the mixing bowl. All my fault. Got on Youtube and found your series of videos describing exactly what had broken on ours. Took the mixer apart exactly as you described. No hidden "gotcha's" either. Ordered the new part from your site and put it all back together, again after watching that part of the video.
The video made it very easy and you made me look really good. This is what the internet is about.
    Thanks for your help.
    Sincerely,
    John

Watch the video. I also had to replace the center gear which is not intuitive. There is a pin that goes through the center shaft. What I would suggest however which is not shown in the video is to remove all the old grease and replace it with new food grade grease. If like me you had broken teeth and a broken pin, you need to get that out of there so it they don't work there way back into the moving parts.

Watched the great video by eReplacementParts on YouTube a couple of times. I then followed the instructions to get into the gear box. The only thing different was that some of the screws needed a square drive screwdriver. Fortunately I had one the right size.

Once I was sure which gear I needed, I went to the eReplacementParts website. It was relatively easy to navigate to find the exact part I needed. I ordered the part, it came in the mail about 4 days later. I watched the video again, and within 20 minutes I had the mixer up and running again. Was a good feeling to actually repair something rather than having to trash it.
