We at eReplacementParts.com want to provide fast, accurate and easy to use search features to help our customers find the right tool and equipment parts. The fastest and most accurate way for customers to find parts on our site is by using the "Model Number" and "Part Number" search bar at the top left of each page on our website. This article gives a brief description of how to use our website's search features, and it points out some important information that will help our customers find the right parts every time. No matter what kind of part is being searched for, having the tool model number and type number that corresponds to that part is a must. For more about Finding Model Numbers--Click here.
Searching By Part Number and Model Number   "Part Number" Searches: Searching by "Part Number" is great when a customer already knows the part number needed. It is still a good idea to double check that the part number matches the right tool by finding the part on that tool's breakdown page, and checking that the part numbers match.

1.  Select the "Part Number" option in the scrolldown box to the left of the search bar text field.

2.  Type the part number in the search bar text field.

3.  Press enter or click the "Go" icon to the right of the search bar.

Part Number Search Field   This will take you directly to the exact page for that part. [Back to top]
"Model Number" Searches: Searching by tool or machine "Model Number" is very accurate, but many tool models divide into different type numbers for that model. That means, if a tool or equipment model happens to be one that divides into types, a tool's type number is also needed when searching with the "Model Number" search bar.

1.  Select the "Model Number" option in the scrolldown box to the left of the search bar text field.

2.  Type the model number of the tool in the search bar text field.

3.  Press enter or click the "Go" icon next to the search bar.

Model Number Search Field   This will take you to the page for the tool or machine that matches that model number. However, it is very important to note whether or not the tool model divides into types. Tool model pages will display more than one icon and tool name for that tool model. Even if the tools look the same, the type numbers will be different and have to match exactly in order to find the right part.

4.  Check if the tool model divides into types. If it does, match the correct type number to continue and choose the tool by clicking its name or picture.   This will take you to the parts page for that tool. This is where the extra accuracy comes in, because the tool breakdown diagram and parts list will help ensure a match. Most of the tool pages on our website display a tool breakdown diagram, and many of the breakdowns have image map mouse-over feature for finding specific parts for that tool. All tool pages include a detailed parts list for that tool.

5.  Use the features of the tool parts page (the breakdown diagram or the parts list) to locate the needed part.

6.  Click the needed part number on the breakdown diagram, or click its part number link on the parts list to go directly to the page for that part. For more about Breakdown Pages--Click here. [Back to top]   Searching By Category Customers can also search by tool category to find the parts they are looking for, but model number and type number are still needed when searching by category. There are also some useful tips below for helping customers increase the accuracy of their searches. Matching model number and type number is so important because tool models and types often divide into a dozen or more subcategories. Also, tools with close, but not exactly matching model numbers can look a lot alike. Type number and model number are always necessary to find the right part. Even two tools with the same model number but different part numbers look alike, the parts between them might not be interchangeable.   There are three common mix-ups in parts ordering that can be avoided:

1.  Matching by picture. After selecting the category of tool or brand, customers will come to a screen displaying the different models of that tool category available. The tool or machine name, model number, and type number will be displayed, and most tools will have a picture as well. One of the most common mix-ups in parts ordering happens here. Tools and machines with the same model number often look alike, or even identical, and it can be tempting just to click the first picture that looks like the desired tool, even if the model number doesn't match.
Solution: Double check that model numbers match, regardless of the picture displayed.

2.  Overlooking tool type numbers. Even after selecting the correct model number, many tools continue to divide within the selected model in types. There can be many different type numbers for the same tool, and it is always important to match type numbers exactly. It can be easy to simply click through when a similar picture or type number is found, without completely checking that it matches exactly. Type numbers are sometimes long, and can vary by only one digit, so making a double check never hurts.
Solution: Look closely at tool category pages, and make sure that type numbers match exactly.

3.  Ordering a part from a tool with close number, even though it doesn't match exactly. Sometimes parts for a tool with a specific type or model number will not be found on eReplacementParts.com. Manufacturers often discontinue making parts for some models and types of tools. Parts for a different tool that has a similar model and/or type number most likely will not be compatible in another tool with a different number. [Back to top] Example Search: Here's an example of a model number search that results in more than one match. The search is for the The Bosch 1644-24 18V Cordless Reciprocating Saw. In the image below, the model number "164424" has been entered into the Model Number Search Field. The search results page displays two type numbers that match 164424 model number, type number 0601644C39 and type number 0601644C43. Notice that the two saws look virtually identical. The type number listed on the saw must be matched to the correct type number displayed on the page in order to find the correct part. Bosch 1644-24 Search Results Page   Solution: Only order parts if they correspond to the right tool.   Sometimes parts will display on a tool's breakdown page without being listed below on the tool's parts list.
