Lots of patience is required for this repair. You have to pre-load the rewind spring. I used a small cotter pin to hold the spring tension when guiding it into the housing.

3. Finish removing cover and drive parts
4. Remove pull assist (Carefully, there is a spring underneath)
4a. Spend two hours rewrapping the spring and making it fit back in its housing. Use your hands with gloves to tighten the spring then use vice grips to hold the spring while you fit it back into it housing.
5. Feed the pull cable through the housing but keep as much as possible wound up, or it doesn\'t retract right.
6. Put it all back together, remove the rope from the cylinder and reinstall spark plug.

Plastic part in recoil assy broke

Remove trimmer shaft assy. Remove front cover from power head. Torx bits are helpful in removing screws. Remove T handle from pull cord and remove complete recoil assy from cover. Install new parts in recoil and rewind spring for recoil. Used a short piece of soft wire on end of new cord to help thread it into the hole in the cover. It is some what of a chore to get it started thru the hole as the spring has to be wound and held while the cord is threaded thru the hole in the cover. The throttle assy has to be removed from shaft but it has enough slack to allow the recoil to be repaired without complete removal. The wires from the shutoff switch can be removed without problems and allow the cover to move freely.
