This is an authentic OEM part for use with Troy-Bilt, MTD, Ryobi, Yard-Man and Bolens Trimmers, Cultivators and Tillers. The valve cover gasket forms a seal between the valve cover and cylinder head. This part is sold individually. The most common reason for replacing the rocker cover gasket is oil leaking from the cylinder head. The tools that you will need to replace the valve cover gasket is a 5/16 inch socket or nut driver.

Remove upper drive shaft. Hold fly wheel and remove clutch drum retaining screw. This screw is down where the drive shaft cable goes into the clutch drum. Install new clutch drum. Hold flywheel and tighten clutch drum attaching bolt. Remove engine cover and valve cover, adjust valve lash and install new valve cover gasket. Reinstall engin e cover.

1. Removed the shroud per manual.
2. Unscrewed the valve cover and the adjusted valves.
3. Replaced the cover with the new gasket.
4. Replaced the spark plug with the new one using a spark plug wrench.
5. Put all shrouding back on and the tested the trimmer.

Severe oil leak

Completely disassemble to replace gaskets and crankcase seal. Best to use Torx driven screw driver. Use loctite when reassembling. The torque is 6 - 12 inch lbs. Set the magneto gap to about .010 and check valve lash at .006.

Valve Cover gasket was broken causing oil to leak all over engine. Good time to change the oil.

Remove engine cover.
Remove the screw for the rocker arm.
Take out broken gasket.
Install new gasket.
Reassemble rocker arm and engine cover.
Good time to change oil

Remove the valve cover and gasket. Clean the area where they are located. Install the gasket then the cover. Removed the air filter cover, then the old filter. Took the new filter and put it in a plastic bag with some oil in it. Agitated the filter in the bag. I then took the oiled filter and squeezed the excess oil into some paper towels . Then installed the new filter and the filter cover. Removed the old spark plug and gapped the new one at 0.025 then installed it in the cylinder head.
