It is an authentic OEM sourced item which is specially produced for use with Shimano reels. The crosshead screw connects to the right side plate and is made of metal. This is a very small part that will need to be replaced if it gets lost or stripped. A Phillips screwdriver is needed to replace the screw. This is available as an individual replacement part even though many might be needed.

Removed handle and side plate to expose the parts that were worn. Removed drive gear and drag assembly. Removed idler gear and level wind shaft. Installed new parts and reversed the sequence.
