This is an OEM part from Presto. This Cover Lock is used on many models of Presto pressure cookers and canners. The Post is made of steel and the gaskets are made of rubber. This part is used to lock the lid to the pot making it so the lid will not open while under pressure. Another part that is commonly ordered with the Cover Lock is the Pressure Regulator (part number 09978).

Pressure cooker will not hold the pressure due to leak in Air Vent and gasket appeared old and hard.

Make sure that the model of the pressure cooker is absolutely the right one. Examine all the replacement parts the old ones and the new. Read the instructions and start removing the old parts, the writer did it manually, if need be you can use the appropriate tools. Once the new parts already in place fill the cooker with water enough to boil to produce the necessary pressure. Start the stove and try run to check for leaks. With proper installations and attention to details you will never get it wrong.

Pressure regulator lost. Cooker not used for some time.

Replaced lost regulator on the cooker lid, Popped out the over pressure plug replaced just as a safety measure. Air vent plug ordered for future use. Repairs went very well. Cooker works great.

Placed new gasket on over vent sliding all the way to top.
