This is an OEM part from Presto. This Cover Lock is used on many models of Presto pressure cookers and canners. The Post is made of steel and the gaskets are made of rubber. This part is used to lock the lid to the pot making it so the lid will not open while under pressure. Another part that is commonly ordered with the Cover Lock is the Pressure Regulator (part number 09978).
Make sure that the model of the pressure cooker is absolutely the right one. Examine all the replacement parts the old ones and the new. Pressure regulator lost. Cooker not used for some time.
Replaced lost regulator on the cooker lid, Popped out the over pressure plug replaced just as a safety measure. Air vent plug ordered for future use. Repairs went very well. Cooker works great.
Removed air vent and old gasket.
Placed new air vent in lid.
Placed new gasket on over vent sliding all the way to top.
