This part is the replacement washer head screw for your lawn tractor. It is black in color and is approximately an inch and a half in length. This self-threading screw is most commonly used for securing the mandrel housing to the mower deck of your lawn tractor. The main reason you would need to replace this part is if the old screw is damaged or missing. This part is sold individually and is a genuine OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.
Took the deck off of the mower,removed the blade assembly, removed the mandrel cover, Removed the nut above the mandrel pulley, and removed the pulley. ... Read morelaced the washer and the new mandrel pulley and secured them with the nut. Replaced the mandrel cover. Attached the blade assembly. Then installed the deck back on the mower. Make sure you take a picture of make a note how the belt was routed.
The parts I ordered were not overly expensive, arrived at my house quickly and were correct. The repair project was easier than I expected due to the good service from the parts vendor.

... Read moreley is keyed to the crankshaft by a small offset in the pulley. (not a good design). as it is a weak point. When the pulley split it took a chunk of the crankshaft with it leaving only a small amount of metal for the pulley keyway to engage the crankshaft. Rather than take a chance I drilled the crankshaft and pulley with a one quarter inch. drill and installed a hardened bolt to secure the pulley. So far so good. Take a lot of pictures when you disassemble the mower so reinstall is easier.

Had damaged the blades and busted the mandrel assembly. Also, had stripped the teeth on the mandrel pulley,
I removed the deck completely from the craftsman lawn tractor. Removed all damaged parts from the mower deck with the necessary tools making sure to take a cell phone picture prior to disassembly. ... Read morews. Don\'t panic though, because the washer head screws self-thread into the mandrel assembly making for a very firm attachment. This project was a little more time consuming because the old mandrel assembly had sheared off at 3 points and the broken pieces under the washer head screws were troublesome to remove. Liquid wrench helped with the removal though. FYI, make sure you don\'t forget to put the spacer on top of the mandrel before you attach the pulley to the top of the mandrel. All new parts went together very nicely on re-assembly. I re-attached the deck to the Lawn tractor. I started the mower and it worked flawlessly.

The old mandrel assembly was very difficult to remove as bolt were stuck in the mandrel assembly and I could not removed them. ... Read moref the mandrel assembly attached to mower deck. Then I had grind the bold heads off.The installation of replacement parts was very easy though. The removal of old mandrel assembly took 3 hours. The installation of new mandrel assembly took 15 minutes.
Tip: If grinding off mandrel assembly please realize the mandrel pulley is to large to fit through the hole in the mower deck and enough of of the bottom part of the mandrel assembly will have to be removed to allow the mandrel assemble to slide out from top of the mower deck.

Left blade of the mowing deck hit a rock, bent the blad and cracked the madrel
Not knowing the extend of the damage I order all new parts to build an new housing (Mandrel) complete with shaft bearings and blade. Parts were exactly the same as original and fitted perfectly. 1. Jacked up the rear of the rider mower to access the blades from the underside to remove them
2. Removed belt to one side & remove old mandrel- a little tedious
3. Pressed (could have used a rubber mallet) new bearings into mandrel along new shaft & packed with grease for the bearings
