Product Description

?

This replacement drive cable also known as an operator presence or blade control cable is commonly utilized on MTD and Troy-Bilt walk-behind lawn mowers. The purpose of a drive cable is to stop the engine when the user lets go of the handle. When the cable is damaged or broken, the mower becomes temporarily inoperable so the cable needs to be replaced. Please note one rubber insulated drive cable is included per order. Replacing this part is pretty simple task that should only require a screwdriver to remove the cover.

The mower is a self propelled Troy built with a variable speed control. I had to dissemble the mowers drive wheels to access bolts securing plastic covers to install the speed cable. The speed unit is mounted on the engine shaft between the Blade and the deck. Of course, I had to remove the blade and blade adapter, this required a puller. There was no videos on face book so it was a learn as you go situation. To replace the cable I paid attention to the parts and their function . The speed control with 4 speeds is functioning exactly as it should.
