Total Repair Time:

Tools:
Screw drivers
1. Remove chain and bar.
2. Remove spark plug and insert short length of rope (enough to stop the piston from completing a stroke) leaving enough to grip for removal latter.
3. Place punch on outer portion of clutch assembly but inside the clutch drum and strike with hammer to loosen/unscrew clutch (counter-clockwise).
4. Remove clutch, drum and worm gear assemblies.
5. Install new parts in reverse order they were removed.
6. On Cover use screwdriver to remove screw on worn cover lid, remove and replace.
Notes: Use safety glasses if using compressed air to blow off debris, disposable gloves are recommended, and remove rope from cylinder before replacing spark plug (it was only used to keep the piston from reaching top of stroke so that the clutch assembly could be unscrewed and screwed back on).

Remove chain guard and chain and bar itself. Remove the sparkplug and make sure the piston is at bottom of cylinder. push a line of 1/4 to 3/8 rope into the cylinder until it won\'t go no more, leaving enough out so removing it will be easy. turn the engine clockwise until the piston is tight against the rope. Use a flat punch and small hammer to tap the worn out sprocket so it turns clockwise. The thread if opposite of a common bolt thread. The sprocket should quickly come loose and spin off. remove the old needle bearing and grease the new one and place it on the shaft, spin the new sprocket onto the engine shaft and tap it in place. Turn the engine enough to loosen the rope and remove the rope. Replace the spark plug and assemble the bar, chain and chain guard. Tighten chain properly, add fuel and chain oil and start the saw up, it should work great.
