the articulating hedge trimmer is $600 to replace and all other parts are working so a $70 repair was in order. This is only the 2nd time I\'ve replaced a piston on a small engine. Was up for the challenge.
Once the cylinder was removed, unclipping the C-rings which held the connecting rod to the piston shaft was pretty simple. N ew parts reverse order. A little tricky to \'compress the new rings on the new piston to get it to go into the cylinder but eventually successful.
Reassembly produced no spark, so had to ponder why. Closer look there are black plastic spacers on the old cylinder that aligned the coil to the magneto. partial disassembly and add the needed spacers, reassembly and all good. Have used the trimmer 3 separate times to date and all seems fine.
