Product Description

?

This is a genuine OEM replacement part, it is sold individually. The purpose of the Fuel Pick--Up Line with Filter is to provide fuel into the carburetor via the primer bulb. The filter is situated inside the fuel tank, with the fuel line extending through an existing hole in the fuel tank. It is then connected to the primer bulb which will purge the air out of the carburetor. By pressing the primmer bulb it will fill the carburetor with fuel, once it is full the excess fuel will be forced back into the tank through the fuel return line. Over time the fuel filter will be come clogged with debris and will have to be changed.

You must cut the filter off of the tube, then cut the ends of the tube on a angle to be able to get the hose through the hole of the gas tank.

Using a utility knife, cut the tube off of the filter, then cut the ends of the tube on a angle. Insert one end into the gas tank as far as you can leaving only about 1/2 inch sticking out. Reach in with an extra long needle nose pliers and pull the tube out of the tank at the fill opening. replace the filter on to the tube, keeping in mi nd that it is not easy to do. Push the tube back into the tank and then pull enough tube back out of the tank to be able to push it onto the pick-up port. Cutting the ends of the tube on a angle makes it much easier to get it into the hole and onto the pick-up port.

Kit came with the filter installed on fuel line, Cut off at the nipple of fuel filter and run line from the outside of tank down thru tank. Use a small piece of wire that you turn into a U at the end of wire, (About 3/8\" shaped U) with some needle nose pliers)! As you push line down from outside of tank about 3 to 4 inches. Stop there an d stick 3/8\" U shaped wire down thru fuel neck and (feed fuel line) downward and grab with inserted wire through fuel neck and work the line up to fuel filler neck. Grab line and install filter and pull line down until fuel filter lays on bottom of inside of tank! Pretty easy if you can visualize and use common sense!

This repair is a little more complicated than the return line. I was hoping that the filter came unattached as it would have been easier to insert the fuel into the tank & then reached in & grab the fuel line. I determined from the internet that the end of the line should be cut at an angle. I then inserted the line into the tank & maneuv ered it toward the hole. I then used a small drill bit to work the fuel line up thru the hole enough to grab it with pliers. I pulled enough fuel line thru to connected it to the carb & then dropped the fuel filter end into the tank.

The fuel filter needs to come un-attached to the line. There is no way to feed the line up from within the fuel tank

As others have stated, you need to cut the filter off the line. Then cut one of the ends at a sharp angle and feed it into the hole in the tank. With a piece of wire, fish the line up the filler neck, grab the line cut the end square, and re-attach the filter.

Attaching the fuel pick up line and return line to the back of t he carb took a few minutes, because the inside diameter of the line isn\'t much bigger than the metal fitting it attaches to.

1. Removed what was left of the old pick-up and return lines.
2. Had to thread the new pickup line from inside the tank.
3. Trimmed end of pickup line to a point with a utility knife in order to thread through the hole.
4. Drilled out the hole in the tank using the next size drill bit.
5. Used an ice pick to catch the end of the pick-up line and direct it into the hole in the gas tank.
6. Once the pick-up line was started in the hole, pulled it through enough to connect to the carb.
7. Installed the return line from outside of the tank and connected to the carb. Had to drill out the hole in the tank similar to the pick-up line.

First and most important \"You DON\'T cut off fuel filter from the fuel pick-up line\"... cut a piece of clothes hanger wire about 10\"-11\" long from the bottom of a clothes hanger and form a half circle approximately 4-3/4\" diameter. then cut about a 1/4\" taper to the end of the fuel pick up assembly line.

Draw diagram of fuel tank and fuel line location, Clear fuel line with attached fuel filter connects to end of carburetor and inters thru the forward outside hole in top of tank... the Blue-Green return line connects to the top of carburetor and inters thru the inside rear hole in top of tank.

Not necessary but makes it easier to remove the one torx screw and then remove tank and place in bench vise lightly to hold while inserting fuel line, also makes it easier to clean out any debris in tank.

Remove the cap from the fuel tank, run the wire down into the hole in the top of the tank formed for the fuel line and out through the tanks fill opening, placing the tapered end of fuel line on end of wire (which is just a really loose slip on fit) work them together back into tank and started out the small hole in top of tank... once tapered cut end starts to protrude from the tank grab end of fuel line with fingers and pull thru until filter rest on bottom of tank at about a 45 degree angle.

Then do the exact same thing with the fuel return line.

Reinstall tank and attach fuel and return lines to carburetor.

Sounds intimidating but it really isn\'t... hardest part is actually cleaning off the old broken fuel lines from the barbs on the carburetor, requires being really gentle and patient to keep from damaging the barbs or possibly breaking them. This is where a razor blade or the blade of a small knife comes in handy.

Whole thing takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

I removed old fuel lines which was difficult due to age.
Took new tube, cut the end diagonally, cleaned the hole in the tank, and fed the tube through the hole in the fuel tank.
I fed the line into the tank until I could grab the tube with grabbing tool.
It took at least an hour to get the filter end to slip onto fuel tubing. Finally, I used a punch to widen the tube hole, sprayed silicone on the filter end, and slipped the tube onto the filter.
Then, I pulled the line so that the filter lie on bottom of fuel tank.
Finally, I put the line on the male end.
