The inner reel goes between the bump head knob and the outer spool & eyelet. It is made of plastic and is sold individually. The reel is a genuine replacement part for trimmers made by MTD, Ryobi, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Yard Man, and Cub Cadet. This part may become broken and will need to be replaced. A screwdriver might be required when replacing this part.

Buy your parts from Ereplacement parts.com and follow their instructions, take your machine apart put it back together the way you found it and you\'ll be back in business. All you have to do, is to Install the spring onto the inner reel, and let some cutting line out through the eyelets. Then press the inner reel into the outer spool, th en tighten up the bump head knob assembly.

Removed motor assembly from line trimmer assembly, did not remove electrical or throttle cable
Removed old clutch shoes and spring, replaced with new.
Reassembled.
