This filter is an authentic OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is commonly used in MTD and Troy-Bilt tillers and cultivators. This part filters the air entering the carburetor. Without a proper air filter, the machine may stop running. It should be replaced if it is worn or clogged beyond cleaning. It is sold individually, and a screwdriver is needed to replace it.

Spark plug was good and getting spark. Fuel was clean with no trace of moisture. Tines were clear of vines and weeds. Good compression and full of oil. Spark shield was clean and clear. This left only a fuel problem. Replaced carb ( no kit available ) filled with new fuel and it started right up. Hope to get five more years of great servi ce out of machine.

Broken main starter recoil spring

Removed engine, nose cone, drive cable, clutch drive, unscrew clutch, starter housing.
install opposite of removal.

Note; pull square drive cable out of cable drive housing, to access Torx retainer screw.

Note; the clutch is the left-hand thread!

Note; Be sure both rubber fuel tank mounts are put back in.

Note; carefully align housing, and do not over tighten, or the new housing will break.

Leaking fuel line

1. Removed six screws holding top plate
2. Pulled plug wire and removed old spark plug, gapped me one, and installed new one (see owners manual)
3. Removed old fuel tank and rubber mounts. Be sure to note there were two fuels lines, so proper orientation is critical.
4. Install rubber mounts and tank, then cut fuel lin es to length and install those.
5. Reinstall top plate with the six screws
6. Fuel filter change out per owners manual was a breeze.
7. All done.

1. Removed the plastic guards surrounding the engine.
2. Removed the muffler for better access to spark plug.
3. Removed old spark plug and replaced new spark plug.
4. Installed new air filter.
5. Replaced muffler and plastic guards.
6. Job completed.

Took nuts off the old cover with a nut driver. Pulled the old cover off. Put the new one on. Put nuts back on. Tightened with a nut driver. Easy install.
