The height guide is the bottom of the cutting head and prevents the cutting disc assembly from contacting the ground. Replacement of the throttle cable was straightforward, requiring only a Philips screwdriver and pliers.
Replacement of cutting shaft, cutting disc and height guide required removal of the cutting sub assembly from the trimmer but was also straightforward using a socket set. The cutting disc is held on the shaft with a 1/8\" hex set
... Read more-screw, the only slightly non-standard tool required for the job. Cleaning the set-screw in order to insure you can completely engage the hex wrench is a good idea, as I found considerable torque was needed to break the screw loose.
When replacing the cutting sub assembly on the trimmer, be sure the belt is still properly threaded past the two tensioning pulleys.
Removed the old rusty bolt. Placed the new height guide on the trimmer with the new bolt. Every time I try to fix something, something goes wrong. This time it didn\'t! Very pleased.
