Remove the base of the sander to get to the fan. There is a large O-ring around the base and a smaller one around the exhaust fitting. After removing the top motor cover use a large screwdriver to hold the motor shaft and unscrew the fan/bearing assembly. Don\'t remove the motor unless replacing the brushes.
