This replacement fuel tank is an authentic high quality item designed for use with Troy-Bilt string trimmers. Its purpose is to hold the fuel that is needed for the engine. Please note this item includes a durable plastic fuel tank, two fuel lines and the fuel cap, however the pads to secure the tank are sold separately.

Loosen screws to get enough slack in casing to remove old tank
Removed the old fuel lines
Installed the new ones
Tightened up the new tank

1) Removed two fuel lines from carburetor (make note of the color coded).
2) Loosen the 4 screws on the back just enough to remove the tank (it had tabs on both ends that hold it in place).
3) Remove the three screws that hold the top cover on (two on top one in the front)
4) Inspect small foam filter in carburetor and c lean if needed.
5) Install in reverse order the top cover and the starter rope bracket, slightly pull the rope as you tighten to make sure the starter rope bracket is fitted in the engine properly.
6) Reconnected the fuel lines.

Can\'t buy just hoses. Had to buy gas tank with new hoses installed.
Remove plastic cover that holds gas tank.
Install new tank and hook up hoses.
Runs great.

Fuel Line cracked/leaking at tank

1. removed the pull starter (4 Screws)
2. removed the carburetor (2 Screws)
3. Pulled fuel lines from the carburetor (Noted which lines connected where)
4. Removed the fuel tank.
5. Removed rubber boots from the old tank and put them onto the new tank
6. Installed Tank
7. Installed Carburetor and re-at tached fuel lines
8. Installed pull starter.
9. Put gas in the tank and did some weed eating...

Broken pull rope

When I removed the assembly to replace the pull rope the fuel lines to the gas tank broke. The fuel line material was brittle because it is years old. The parts I purchased made it easy to replace the broken parts.
