This is an authentic manufacturer-sourced component which is specially designed for Craftsman trimmers. Its purpose is to filter out dust and debris from contaminating the carburetor and engine, unfortunately, over time it will wear out and may get clogged eventually requiring a replacement to maintain peak performance. When replacing the filter you can open the package in comes in and put a bit of two cycle oil in the bag and let it absorb into the filter. Then remove it from the bag and squeeze it with a paper towel to remove the excess oil. Keep in mind this high-quality foam filter is sold individually. Please make sure to refer to the owners manual for the correct location and application of this component.

Simple! I misplaced the air filter and cover when I cleaned it. The new air filter cover snapped into place same as the old one. I didn\'t need to remove the back part of the air filter housing from the carburetor so I needed no tools. The replacement also came with a new air filter, which I had ordered separately. Removed remainder of air cleaner assembly (two machine screws). Installed the replacement in its stead.
It wasn\'t clear that the air cleaner cover assembly came with a new filter element, so I had also purchased another element. Not needed, but now I have a spare.

gas was not getting to the carburetor try to clean old carburetor did not work
1. Open the cover to the air filter by pushing down the plastic latch and lifting the cover
2. Remove the old air filter and dispose.
3. Place the new air filter.
4. Snap the cover closed.
