1. Disassembled the drill with Torx nut drivers. Slowly separate the housing halves and beware the round spring on the direction switch, it will jump out and try to hide from you.
2. Removed the broken speed selector knob and replaced it with the new part.
3. Removed the brush plate and brushes.
4. Unsoldered one of the

5. Installed the new brush plate.
6. Installed the armature and coil assembly.
7. Installed new brushes.
8. Assembled unit with Torx nut drivers paying close attention to wire routing, and carefully inserting the round spring for the direction switch.
Hardest thing about the repair was that the wires to the brush ring assembly were soldered on so you need to know how to do some simple soldering. Other then that it was a breeze to replace the brushes and the assembly.
Remove screws from housing assembly and remove one side, note how the coil spring is placed in the housing. Remove one wire at a time from the old switch and place it in the same place in the new switch.
