After mis-diagnosing misfire, backfiring, rough run, dying out, wouldn\'t handle load as a fuel issue, saw arcs from plug wire while starting lawnmower. Dug into it, found plug wire to be damaged so bad, wonder it ran at all. Had to change ignition module to repair. But, this is like a super easy fix. Just had make sure air gap was right.

The engine leaked oil from the overhead valve cover gasket failure and the leaking oil caught fire and melted all the plastic parts

I removed all melted plastic parts and valve cover and head. I cleaned everything and replace with new gaskets and parts. It started and runs perfectly as it did before the fire.
I am happy I caught the fire to put it out before it was totally destroyed. Now I have my mower back and will keep an eye on that overhead valve cover for leaks in the future.
