Rod clamp is mounted to the back side of the rod and it attaches to the bottom of the reel to give the reel extra stability. Please note the hardware to attach this clamp is sold separately. This item is made out of black plastic and it is sold individually.

Just screwed the both into reel and then placed rod clamp on reel, then placed nuts onto both. Very simple.
