This authentic replacement part is specially designed for use with Shimano fishing reels. Ball bearings are generally utilized to reduce the friction between rotating parts. The balls or rollers take the load and spin, distributing the weight evenly while the minimal contact area of the ball reduces friction. Over time components may wear out and begin to fail eventually requiring a replacement, keep in mind this high-quality item is made of durable metal and is sold individually.
Before replacing took place a complete cleaning and troubleshooting of the reel was performed. It was then found after cleaning that 2 bearings were frozen and after several days of soaking in cleaning fluid the bearing needed replacing.
1 removed the cover
2 removed internal pieces that were in front of the bearing

4 installed new bearing
5 oiled the bearing properly for smooth action
6 installed all parts back to the reel
7 removed the other bearing from the reel cover and replaced with new
8 oiled the bearing appropriately and re assembled all components to the reel
9 loaded reel with string and performed a function test that the reel is now in complete working order
