Blade brake cable broke.

2. Detached spring from brake.
3. Removed zip ties holding the cable to the handle, and handle lever anchor point.
4. Reinstalled new cable starting at the blade brake actuator, anchored to the mower deck with clip.
5. Routed the cable back up the handle, and s ... Read more ecured with new zip ties and the cable handle clamp/adjuster.
6. Attached the cable to the actuator lever.
7. Adjusted the tension. Check to see that it released the blade brake.
8. Started the mower, checked for function.
9. Reattached blade pulley cover.
Took less than an hour.
10. Mowed the lawn.

2. Remove cable from handle (must rotate approximately 90 degrees to remove properly)
3. Unhook cable spring from underneath the mower deck (this is connected to the pulley wheel that engages the blades)
Cable should be removed at this point ... Read more . Basically, reverse steps for installing the new cable. Right below the mower is a screw and flat metal piece which holds it to the deck, use this to tighten or loosen the tension on the cable.
