Remove gear head and armature in one unit, unscrew and remove armature, install new armature and screw back down. On main drive shaft, the drive gear is pressed onto the bottom of the main shaft, using a small two or three jaw puller remove gear, careful there is a spring on that shaft you don\'t want to loose, then press or tap the gear back on the shaft. then install the gear head and armature back into the case, it is easier to go ahead and remove the brushes then trying to push the brushes apart to get the armature to go back into place, once the gear head is back in place assemble the case, and reassemble the bit holder on the end and test the machine for proper function .
