Pressed the spring retaining pins in place.
Pre loaded the spring and tightened the shaft retaining hex screw.

Powermatic cutterhead guard worn out and functioning poorly

After removing the original cutterhead guard from my Powermatic PJ882 jointer I assembled all the new replacement parts to match the original configuration and re-installed the guard.

The real story here is that ereplacementparts.com made finding, ordering and replacing the COMPLETE guard a very simple and straightforward p rocess. If they had a less streamlined order process or had messed up the order by sending wrong parts and pieces it could have easily made the process very difficult and frustrating. As it was it was quick, painless and a reasonable value.
