Design change. Shaft for early model was no longer available.
Current model uses 5/8\" diameter shaft. Old model used a 3/4\" shaft.
Machined a 1-1/2\" long brass sleeve, 3/4\" O.D. x 5/8\" I.D. to take up the space.
Pressed the spring retaining pins in place.
Pre loaded the spring and tightened the shaft retaining

Tightened the hex screw retaining nut.
Checked spring tension and readjusted the shaft rotation so the guard automatically returned to the covered position.
Oiled the Cutter head guard and shaft.

Powermatic cutterhead guard worn out and functioning poorly
After removing the original cutterhead guard from my Powermatic PJ882 jointer I assembled all the new replacement parts to match the original configuration and re-installed the guard.
