The chuck and key were worn and needed to be replaced. Also needed to replace the ring which holds the rack for raising and lowering drill plate.

I removed the drill motor head, and removed the retainer ring for the drill plate rack ring, and replaced it with the new one, by tightening it with a set screw. Then I removed the old chuck and used a dead blow hammer to set the new chuck in place.
