This is a set of two (2) double edged tungsten-carbide planer baldes. Genuine OEM replacement parts designed to work with Makita planers. A planer's knives are machined to make very precise cuts. When your knife blades wear down, you won't get the level of precision you require. Remember that the blades are incredibly sharp and double-sided. Use caution when working with them. To replace the blades you will need a wrench.

Perfect fit on an old planer
I bought my Makita planer in the 1980s. It's always been a great tool, but sharpening the blades has always been a pain and mine have been honed down about to the limit. These blades and their holders were an easy exchange for the HSS set that came with the machine. Belt that drives planer wheel broke and also replaced planer blade
To replace belt was relatively easy
1 remove cover plate by removing screws
2 place belt on smallest wheel first and work onto larger wheel while turning the flywheel by hand ( oops forgot to tell ya to make sure the unit is not connect to any power source). Continue to work the belt onto the wheel as you rotate the flywheel

To replace the planer blades was a little tricky!
1 remove the three bolts that hold the blades on the wheel
2 My kit had the new plates and blades so I had to remove the adjusting plate and install it on my new plates that hold the blade in place
3 here where I had problems ....while reinstalling the planer blades and keeper plates I noticed that the blades were wider than the keeper plates ... so not knowing I went ahead and installed them just like they came off and when I manually rotated the drum the planer blade ultimately hit somewhere on the inside of the machine .... so had to take them off and grind the width of the blades to match the width of the keeper plates....once I reinstalled the blades the drum rotated around completely
